Topsy turvy day!
That, of course, means learning to cover round tiers. Yikes, not easy. The bow from Tuesday was much more simple. Also, we were practicing on styrofoam "cakes." Because they're not covered in buttercream first, like a real cake would be, the styrofoam had to be dampened a little. Heavy handed as I tend to be, I got mine a little too wet and didn't wait long enough to put on the fondant. I did roll it nice and thin, though. And with a marble effect.
Not bad for my first time, though, if I do say so myself! I used blue, green, and white fondant. Then... the another layer of fondant, but with a two-tone effect to the two layers.
And then, since it's Mardi Gras themed, some purple to go with the green.
That's just a little 5" tier. We've got homework, to cover an 8" tier and bring both back with us in two weeks for the next class. I brought home purple & white fondant for that one. And then at the next class, we'll add some gold elements, flooding in that quilted pattern you see and some other stuff.
So fun!

Looks good!
Looks great so far! I love what you did with the purple! The gold is really going to make it look like Mardi Gras - can't wait to see it all come together!
Great colours!
